Thanks to their year-round sun, stunning beaches and short flight time, the Canary Islands are one of the top destinations for Brits when it comes to a holiday abroad.
The Spanish islands have now been a firm favourite for generations, having experienced a tourism boom in the 1960s. Since then millions of tourists have flocked to the likes of Lanzarote, Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
In 2023 alone around 14 million international tourists visited the islands but the number of visitors has led to protests from locals calling for more sustainable tourism models to be put in place.
Yet there is a destination which offers a similar experience to the Canary Islands (in fact, it’s even hotter) but without the crowds of visitors.
