In just over a week Boris Johnson will tell us how he plans to bring England out of lockdown. Yesterday the PM said he was "optimistic", and reports have emerged claiming that pubs and restaurants could be allowed to serve customers outside by the end of next month.
But scientists have urged the government to be cautious, as loosening too fast could cause infections to shoot up again and leave us back at "square one".
On the other hand, he faces calls from within his own party to ease all restrictions by the end of April, with 63 MPs writing and demanding lockdown is lifted.
Number 10 seems increasingly confident schools will be able to open on March 8 - the date targeted by the PM - as cases fall.
