Detectives have welcomed a decision by appeal court judges to increase the sentence handed to a vile rapist. They said it represents a measure of justice for Steven Evans' four victims The 'despicable' predator who drugged his victims will now spend at least 30 years behind bars, a minimum term six years more than the term handed to him by a judge last year.
Appeal court judges ruled the original sentence 'was simply too low'. Evans, 33, was locked up in November last year after a jury found him guilty of 37 offences, the majority of them horrific rapes and sex assaults.
The monster - who used a substance he called 'magic' to knock out his victims - was convicted of ten counts of rape, six counts of assault by penetration and one sexual assault against one woman, committed in 2015-2016, and five counts of rape, three of assault by penetration, seven sexual assaults and two charges of administering a stupefying substance with intent against a second woman.
