The Salford streets in the running to be immortalised in special edition Monopoly

The famous route is home to Buile Hill Park, Salford Royal Hospital, three churches, and a branch of Gregg's bakers that once needed security guards.

Now Eccles Old Road could win further fame - as a destination on the Salford version of the board game Monopoly. Following a public vote, the street was a hugely popular choice as the local "Old Kent Road".

Last month, the Manchester Evening News reported the city had been chosen for the next edition of the game, which is due out in October.
