Martin Freeman has candidly discussed his return to eating meat after spending 38 years as a vegetarian.The 52 year old actor, famed for his roles in The Office and Sherlock, alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, opened up about his dietary shift on the podcast Dish, hosted by Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett.

He revealed: "I've come off being a vegetarian. I started being a vegetarian in like January 1986." When asked why he initially chose a vegetarian lifestyle, he explained: "I was never really...

I was never comfortable with the idea of eating animals." Martin, currently starring as Chris in the BBC's police drama The Responder, also mentioned that before reintroducing meat into his diet, he had been enjoying vegetarian alternatives.

He said: "I always had veggie sort of replacements and stuff. I think in the last several months ... it's really new going back to being an omnivore [and] just sort of eating what I like." During the conversation, Martin expressed some concerns about continuing as a vegetarian and his preference for meat substitutes.
