Viewers tuning into The Repair Shop on Wednesday night were left glassy eyed and sobbing after a ten year old boy shared the heartwarming reason for seeking a repair.

Ten year old Jonah Atkins visited the shop with mum Melissa, to ask for a repair to be carried out on a very special dragon plushie named Duncan that was looking a little worse for wear.

The adorable green toy had previously been owned by mum Melissa as a little girl, before being passed down to Jonah, however over the years his neck had become floppy and his fur a little matted, with the youngster worried that if he took him out and about he might make him worse - something that was particularly poignant as Jonah often needs to visit the hospital.

Explaining a little about Duncan’s history, mum Melissa said: "He’s very old, I got him when I was a little girl. I used to love dragons. “One day my Auntie Joan was walking past a shoe shop and she saw Duncan in the window as a promotion and she went in and asked the ladies if she could buy Duncan when the promotion had finished - and fortunately for me, she was allowed!” Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter . “So I was ecstatic to get my own dragon, and as you can tell by poor Duncan, he’s been in the wars over the years because I used to take him everywhere with me, which you can probably see!” Yet Duncan wasn’t only loved by mum Melissa, as she had soon passed on the cuddly toy to her son, who needed him a little more.
