The Repair Shop star Dean Westmoreland is revered as the show's resident cobbler - but admits he found TV fame "unnerving" at first.
Dad-of-two Dean has become one of the show's most famous faces and fans love to pop into his shop, Yorkshire Sole, to enjoy a chat and find out more about the show. “A lot of people want a cup of tea and to talk about the latest episode,” he says. “This last six to 12 months I’ve been recognised quite a bit.
At first, it was unnerving because I’m quite private, but everybody’s really nice. I haven’t really had any stick yet. People love the show and what we do.
I’m lucky to be a part of it so I try to embrace it.” Dean’s biggest fans are his two young sons, who love seeing their dad on TV. “They’re quite young, so it’s still exciting for them,” he says. “They’re proud but I think as they get older, they will be a tad embarrassed.” The new series of The Repair Shop sees a pair of tiny cowboy boots walk into the barn. The boots are brought in by Diane Wynell-Sutherland., who reveals they were bought for her son by her brother Roger Pope, a session musician who found them while on his travels round America with stars such as Sir Elton John.
