The Queen will reportedly spend more time in Scotland as she plans to ‘quit Buckingham Palace for good’. Plans are said to be underway in kitting out Craigowan Lodge on the Balmoral Estate, Aberdeenshire, with a string of security measures to prevent vehicles and intruders getting near to the property.

The Sun reports that a new security gate, state of the art intercom system and a series of CCTV camera are set to be installed.

Officials have also installed a £20,000 'wheelchair friendly' lift inside the property as the 95-year-old monarch struggles with her mobility.A Balmoral insider told the newspaper: “For many years we thought it would be the perfect place for the Queen to spend more time when she’s older.

It’s one of her favourite places in the country.“With a proper lift and now this new security, it can be effectively sealed off so she can spend more time there quietly in her late nineties.” Earlier this week, a Buckingham Palace source claimed that the Queen has become so frail that she has been unable to walk her previous corgis for the past six months.
