'The Princess' HBO Doc: Trailer Gives Eerie Look at Princess Diana's Life in the Spotlight

HBO Max’s big merger with Discovery + has come uncertainty for many shows and creators as the company pivots in a new direction. The first Afro-Latina Batgirl has already become a casualty, with Warner Brothers permanently shelving the near-completed superhero project indefinitely, and also quietly pulling 6 other films produced as HBO Max original films, including The Witches starring Octavia Spencer and Chris Rock, Charm City Kings starring Jahi Di’Allo Winston, William Catlett, and Meek Mill, and Locked Down starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ann Hathaway.

After a few days of mass uncertainty, with folks on social media wondering what is going on at one of the biggest studios in Hollywood, Warner Bros. Discovery has shed some light on the company’s future.

Princess Diana and the tragic circumstances of her untimely death are being rehashed in a new docuseries,, on Discovery+ this month. The four-part series, available to stream on Aug.

HBO Max and Discovery+ will merge to become one streaming service next year.In a second quarter earnings call on Thursday (August 4), Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO David Zaslav announced that the merged streamer will launch in the summer of 2023 in the US, with Latin America, Europe and other territories to follow soon after. The combined streaming service will be released with ad-free, ad-light and ad-only options.As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Zaslav addressed concerns that the merger would result in less emphasis on original programmes.

Over recent months, Prince William has stepped up in his role as a senior member of the royal family and has been spotted representing the Queen at numerous events, including at the final royal garden party at Buckingham Palace. And as second-in-line to the throne, the Duke of Cambridge’s royal engagements have given members of the public a good insight as to what kind of monarch he may be in the future, a royal expert has said.

While it’s now appearing that the decision to shelve “Batgirl” is just one piece to a much larger puzzle over at Warner Bros. Discovery, it doesn’t change the fact that the cancellation of a film that cost $90 million and was nearly complete is still huge news.
