Today (February 13), 17 months after his innocence was confirmed by the Court of Appeal, Mr Malkinson finally received part of the compensation he is owed, And he vowed to "hold Greater Manchester Police to account".
His solicitor has welcomed the payment, but said a £1m cap on compensation payouts should be lifted. Currently that is the maximum that can be paid to victims of miscarriages of justice who are wrongly jailed for at least ten years.
