The official ratings for the 2021 Oscars have been revealed and while historic in many ways, the ratings didn’t mirror that.

According to Variety, via the Nielsen Live+Same Day preliminary national numbers, the ceremony averaged just 9.85 million viewers.

That is equal to a 58% drop from the 2020 ceremony held in February of last year. In addition, The Oscars scored just a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49 in the fast national ratings, which is a 64.2% drop from 2020.

Many award shows in the recent years have been on a decline, and The Oscars was not spared. In comparison to years past, the 2020 show drew a 5.3 rating and brought in about 23.6 million viewers.
