Sacha Baron Cohen directed and reprises the title role of a man from Kazakhstan documenting America in the sequel to 2006’s “Borat” that also stars Maria Bakalova in a Globe-nominated role.
Baron Cohen thanked “comic genius” Rudy Giuliani, who was tricked into appearing in the film. It beat out fellow nominees “Hamilton,” “Music,” “Palm Springs” and “The Prom. ”Baron Cohen then won best actor in a musical or comedy for the role, the after winning the same award for the original “Borat!” in 2006.
