Politically, it’s the same as ever, with Labour expected to retain the majority of its seats and its hold on the town hall. Depending on who you speak to, the ruling party may be in danger of gaining or losing a foothold in wards across the city to the Liberal Democrats - or the Green Party.
One of the council’s two-strong Lib Dem opposition is up for election, while the group could increase in number if things go their way.
