It's been a year since the tiny, mostly unheard of little village of St Michael's on the Wyre, became the centre of a news story which rocked the nation after tragedy struck.
On January 27 2023, mum-of-two Nicola Bulley had disappeared while walking her dog on the bank of the River Wyre. In the three weeks before Nicola, 45, was found, the peaceful village was inundated with news vans, social media detectives and ghoulish day trippers, posing for selfies on the bench where Nicola was last seen.
A year on, the village lies silent, with just the sound of passing traffic rumbling along Garstang Road. Gone are the yellow ribbons which decorated the footbridge, paying tribute to the missing mortgage advisor.
The 'missing person' boards, bearing Nicola's face, which were once tied to lampposts throughout the village, have been taken down.
