Voters in Greater Manchester took to the polls in the local council elections today (Thursday, May 5). People in Bury, Bolton, Oldham, Manchester, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan got to have their say on who they think should run their local public services, including education, libraries, and bin collections.
Polling stations opened at 7am and closed at 10pm. Counts will be taking place at different times across the region, with some starting straight away and others being held off until Friday morning.
In Greater Manchester seats were available in the all of the region's 10 councils. Local elections also took place across the UK.
More than 200 local authorities held votes, including all 33 London boroughs and 34 metropolitan boroughs in England. Bolton is expected to be the first borough to declare it's results from 12.30am on Friday.
