The Great British Bake Off viewers were left divided by the unusual timing of this week's themes. Bake Off already faced backlash for its "insensitive" Mexican themed week which saw presenters Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas don sombreros.
The Channel 4 show was criticised for missing the mark on terminology and representation and perpetuating harmful stereotypes of Mexican people and food as many fans labelled it "cultural appropriation".
Moving on from the backlash, the bakers were tasked with creating a whole batch of spooky treats for Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith last night (Tuesday).
However, Halloween Week left fans of the show confused as to why it was done so early, when Halloween was almost two weeks away, reports the Echo.The tent's aesthetic remained relatively untouched for the holiday edition but the majority of backlash came from the timing of the theme.
