The Great British Bake Off viewers were left divided by the unusual timing of this week's themes. Bake Off already faced backlash for its "insensitive" Mexican themed week which saw presenters Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas don sombreros.

The Channel 4 show was criticised for missing the mark on terminology and representation and perpetuating harmful stereotypes of Mexican people and food as many fans labelled it "cultural appropriation".
