For the last three years, I have been an avid attendee of the food and drink festival ‘Stockport Foodie Friday’, which takes place in the town on the last Friday of every month.
Thousands of people flock to the Victorian Market Square to taste some of the best delicacies local traders have to offer and dance to upbeat tunes and live acts.
The atmosphere there is warm and festive, with people swaying to live music and enjoying the food and drink, which shines a light on its local community by showcasing vendors and bands from the local area and beyond.
This year, their Christmas Foodie Friday took place on December 20, hosting street food vendors and artists. Initially, Foodie Friday was started by Stockport council as part of the ‘Love your local market campaign’ which was run by Esther Morrison and then taken over in 2015 by John Barratt, his wife Rosemary and son Joe.
