A ‘dangerous’ sex offender who plied three girls with alcohol before he abused them has been jailed. Police said Gerald Coppel’s abuse ‘cast a shadow’ over their childhoods.
He’s now behind bars serving 14 years after the victims bravely came forward to reveal his abuse. Coppel, 71, pleaded guilty to 19 counts of indecent assault.
Of those counts, 13 referred to a child aged under 13 and six to a child under 16. The offences took place in the south Manchester area.
Coppel was jailed on Friday by a judge at Manchester Crown Court. He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for life.
