Helena Bonham Carter has admitted she felt "the only way was down" when playing Princess Margaret in The Crown. The actor has ended up being nominated for a Bafta for her role as part of the Royal Family in the Netflix drama, but admitted feeling the pressure replacing Vanessa Kirby who won awards for her portrayal of Margaret in her younger years.

Helena, 54, said: "Well she won a BAFTA too! So I felt like there was only one way to go and that was down! No, I was really scared at first.

I wasn’t immediately like..I’ve got to do it. "When you play somebody that everyone thinks that they know, you’ve got that hanging on your shoulders and you’ve got another person who’s just won a BAFTA on the other shoulder...so it was pretty scary." You
