The Chase fans were stunned by a contestant's remarkable general knowledge this evening - branding her a "dark horse." 68 year old Barbara from Bristol opened the show, racking up an impressive score and going on to the final with £7000.

Host Bradley Walsh wanted to know which of the five Chasers she'd ideally take on. Recalling a famous episode from the show's past, Barbara replied: "I think I'd like to take on Anne. "I like her sense of humour, and I've always had a soft spot for her since the Fanny Chmelar incident!" "I've got a soft spot for her as well," Bradley came back, "It's a swamp!" Barbara got her wish, and out walked The Governess.
