Neil Francis Lennon (born 25 June 1971) is a Northern Irish football coach and former player who is the manager of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. During his playing career he represented English clubs Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra and Leicester City.
Lennon moved to Scottish club Celtic in 2000, where he made over 200 appearances and was appointed captain in 2005. Before retiring as a player, he returned to England and played for Nottingham Forest and Wycombe Wanderers. Lennon made 40 appearances for Northern Ireland in nine years, scoring two goals. Lennon was appointed manager of Celtic in March 2010, initially in a caretaker capacity after the departure of Tony Mowbray.
John Hughes reckons Neil Lennon has more than earned the same right. Big Yogi was left shocked by the shameful scenes outside Celtic Park on Sunday night when a group of punters lost the plot in the wake of the shock Betfred Cup collapse against Ross County.
It might have had an end of days feel for the Hoops boss but charging barriers, battling cops and hurling abuse as players and coaches left was a despicable way to vent their frustration.Hughes believes Lennon should have enough in the bank to survive this current crisis.Celtic may have won just twice in their last 10 games but the man in charge has won five trophies on the spin and has the time and games to turn things around.
