The impact of the murder of Lisa Hession is still felt in the town where she lived, almost 40 years on. As the Manchester Evening News's publisher Reach PLC launches a new true crime newsletter called Testimony this week, our chief reporter, Neal Keeling, looks back on a case which has haunted his career.
In this, the fourth in a series of special features, Neal reveals a breakthrough moment in the case. In February 2005 the unsolved murder of Lisa Hession was featured on BBC's Crimewatch programme.
The then head of GMP's Cold Case Unit, Jeff Arnold, was filmed in the alley where Lisa died. For him the case had never gone cold.
