The Big Issue has told its vendors they can no longer sell the magazine on the streets because of the 'coronavirus crisis'. Bosses said today the Covid-19 'lockdown' would be 'devastating' for its many hundreds of vendors, whose only incomes are from selling the magazine.

The founder of the Big Issue, Lord John Bird, said in a message on Twitter: "It's with a heavy heart, I have had to say to Big Issue vendors that they can no longer sell on the streets. "This is due to the coronavirus crisis, to ensure the safety and health and wellbing of all our vendors.
