With the hot weather very much here and summer in full flow, it's time to start planning those much-needed days out. One of Scotland's most magnificent natural sights, waterfalls offer plenty of opportunities for some beautiful photos and are the ideal walk to while away an afternoon.
And should you be looking for a beauty spot with plenty of waterfalls of its own, then there are few better than the Falls of Clyde.
Located less than an hour from Glasgow, within the World Heritage Site of New Lanark, the Falls of Clyde reserve encompasses no fewer than four Linns (from the Scots Gaelic 'linne' meaning waterfall or torrent) - Bonnington Linn, Corra Linn, Dundaff Linn, and Stonebyres Linn.
These incredible falls were named among the best in the UK in a recent study carried out by the Finest Filters team. Placing 8th on the impressive list of waterfalls, they were one of only two Scottish sites to make the top 10, beating out the likes of Grey Mares Tail and Steall Waterfall.Looked after by the Scottish Wildlife Trust, the reserve is home to a wide range of fascinating wildlife, including otters, more than 100 species of birds - including ravens and kingfishers - Daubenton’s bats, and plenty of badgers.
