The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that a formal investigation will be conducted after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 94th annual Oscars.“The Academy condemns the actions of Mr.

Smith at last night’s show,” the Academy said in a statement via Variety on Monday, March 28. “We have officially started a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our Bylaws, Standards of Conduct and California law.”The organization, which has over 10,000 members from all branches of the film industry, implemented a new code of conduct in 2017 in the wake of the #MeToo movement.
