Every year, execs pay millions and millions of dollars just to secure a coveted slot during the big game, which is watched by approximately 100+ million viewers each year.
Regardless of how long the ads are – and they’re usually less than a minute long! – they still cost millions, because the opportunity for mass exposure of a brand like that is generally considered worth the cost.
In recent years, CNN estimated that NBC made $500 million just from ad sales alone, not including the coverage before and after the game.
