Two Tesco workers drowned after going for a swim on their day off in water which was deep and cold despite it being a hot day.
A friend of Velly Souza, 25, and Samuel Fernandes, 20, described the horror as he panicked and watched his pals drown in the River Avon in Bath - and revealed he thought he was going to die too.
An inquest at Avon Coroner's Court has heard the two friends died after getting into difficulty and were pulled from the water at Bathampton Weir in Somerset, on May 28.
A coroner told the inquest it was "tragic that a day which started out as a day of enjoyment for these young people ended so tragically." The men, who lived in Swindon, Wiltshire, had been visiting the area with four friends.
