Terrified residents trapped in Glasgow flat after fire guts ground floor home

A trapped resident was forced to leap from a window after a horror blaze broke out in a Glasgow flat.Emergency services raced to Leslie Street in Pollokshields after the alarm was raised in the early hours of Friday morning.

Ambulance crews attended and two men were rushed to hospital for treatment. Pictures taken from the scene showed smoke billowing out of a ground-floor flat while fire crews battled the blaze.

One terrified resident, who lives in the building, told Glasgow Live how she was trapped in her home during the incident.A picture taken by the woman showed smoke flooding into her property with her stuck inside.

Meanwhile a neighbour, she said, leapt from the third floor of the property and had to be taken to hospital.The woman, who has not been named, said: "At 3.30am we were woken up by a neighbour who told us there was a fire and to leave.
