The youngster, 16, was attacked on Barlow Moor Road, close to the junction with Mauldeth Road West and Hardy Lane, just before 7pm last night (Wednesday).
He was taken to hospital from the scene with serious injuries. He remains there in a 'stable, but serious condition'. Last night, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said there was a 'large gathering of youths' in the area at the time of the stabbing.
