A teenager died running away from Bonfire weekend carnage which saw fireworks hurled at police officers, it's been claimed. A witness said he was fatally injured when he crashed through a greenhouse while trying to get to safety.The 33-year-old mum, who did not want to be named, said she phoned the emergency services after noticing he had injured himself while running through back gardens on her street.She explained: "He jumped onto the greenhouse and that is how he got injured.

It was an accident. There was nothing we could do."She said another local tried to give the 17-year-old first aid while an operator gave instructions over the phone after 999 had been called due to the Bonfire weekend madness, according to Yorkshire Live.Doctors did their best to save the youngster after he was brought in for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Fireworks were said to be being "hurled" in the street by yobs at the time the teenager was found injured.An eyewitness described the scenes, in Vickerman Street, Halifax, West Yorkshire, as "horrendous".

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police confirmed officers were in the street because fireworks were being set off.Our sister title Yorkshire Live said a police cordon remains in place and the force said it has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) - the body which handles complaints against the police south of the border.The spokesman said: "Police were called by the ambulance service just before 8.15pm on Saturday, November 5, following reports of an injured male in the garden of a property in Vickerman Street, Halifax."A 17-year-old male was taken to hospital where he died.
