Teenager airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after Burnley house explosion

A teenager has been seriously injured following an explosion at a house in Lancashire. Emergency services were called to the property in Burnley just after noon today (Monday) following reports of a house collapse, LancsLive reports.

An 18-year-old male has been airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital suffering 'major trauma'. A woman was taken to the Royal Blackburn for assessment. Emergency services are on the scene following the incident, which is believed to have affected people living in several properties.

Members of the public have been advised to avoid several roads in the area. A spokesperson for North West Ambulance service said: "Two ambulances, an advanced paramedic, an air ambulance and an operational commander attended an incident following a 999 call at 12.11pm. "We’ve conveyed two patients to hospital.
