A teenage twin who already had a life-saving heart transplant is asking for a Christmas miracle after needing a second donor for another new heart.
Martha Andersen, 16, fought as a baby to receive a new heart which kept her alive. The previous donor ‘saved our whole family’ according to Martha’s mum Gill, who said the operation allowed Martha to enjoy a happy childhood with her twin Matilda.
However, Martha’s heart is now failing and she is once again on the list of over 200 children waiting to receive a life-saving organ transplant this Christmas.
The family are trying to “stay positive”, as this time a suitable donor will be more difficult to find as there is a higher chance Martha’s body will reject a second transplant.Mum Gill, from
