Teen took own life after being 'dropped by top football academy'

A ‘talented, mature and hard-working’ teenager took his own life after finding it 'difficult' to cope with being dropped by a top football club Jeremy Wisten, who since the age of 13 had played with Manchester City academy, was found by his heartbroken mother in his sister’s bedroom last year.

Paramedics were called to the family home in Baguley, however there was nothing they could do and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jeremy had his dreams of a scholarship with the football club dashed after he was let go following a serious knee injury in 2018, an inquest heard.He had previously spent five months away from the pitch and was dealing with a ligament injury that left him in 'excruciating pain', which meant he did not progress at the
