The Teen Mom OG star Cory Wharton revealed on Wednesday that his youngest daughter was undergoing open-heart surgery. The 31-year-old reality star shared a sweet photo of himself holding his seven-month-old daughter Maya in what looked like a hospital setting, while he was masked up.This appears to be the second planned open-heart surgery for the little girl, who previously had surgery performed just days after she was born to correct her tricuspid atresia. The congenital heart defect occurs when the heart's tricuspid valve is underdeveloped, which prevents oxygen-poor blood from being properly pumped to the lungs, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Hoping for the best: Teen Mom OG star Cory Wharton, 31, asked for prayers on Wednesday as he revealed that his seven-month-old daughter Maya would be undergoing open-heart surgery that dayPeople with the condition can easily get tired or out of breath, and multiple surgeries are required to treat the issue.'The day is finally here @mayagrace.wharton has her open heart surgery today ❤️,' Cory began his caption. 'All I’m asking, is for everybody to keep us in your prayers and keep praying for her & the doctors that will be working on her heart ❤️.   'We have been anticipating this day for so long all the anxiety that has built up for months.

I just can’t wait for her heart to be fixed,' he continued. 'Then we can move on from this chapter.
