A missing teenager survived for eight days alone in the woods eating berries after her car ran out of fuel, according to her parents.
Police feared Giovanna 'Gia' Fuda, 18, had been abducted after she disappeared on July 24 and her car was found on a remote stretch of road in Cascade Mountains, Washington state.
She had been to a coffee shop and was heading home when her car broke down near a deep ravine in the woods and she couldn't get phone signal, with investigators initially describing it as 'suspicious'.
However, Gina's parents Bob and Kristin told KIRO 7 their daughter didn't realise how far down Highway 2 she was when she set out to walk to the town of Skykomish via a forest bridge.
