Teen left 'shaken' after being robbed at knifepoint as cops hunt thugs

Cops are hunting thugs who robbed a teen at knifepoint on a busy Scots road. The victim had been walking along Bank Street in Coatbridge at around 5pm on Friday, January 28, when the incident happened.

The 13-year-old boy was approached by two male teenagers who made off with his phone after brandishing a knife. He was left shaken by the terrifying incident but was not injured.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are now hunting the teens involved. One of the boys is described as being 14 or 15-years-old, 5ft 9”, of slim build, with dark hair and was wearing a black jacket and jogging bottoms.The second boy is described as being 15 to 16–years-old, 5ft 10”, of slim build, and was wearing a grey zipper hooded top, a black body warmer and white jogging bottoms.Anyone with information is being urged to come forward.Detective Constable Shemain Murphy of CID in Coatbridge said: “The victim was walking in the area known locally as the ‘basin’ when the incident happened. “One of the boys is described as being 14 or 15-years-old, 5ft 9”, of slim build, with dark hair, wearing a black jacket and jogging bottoms. “The second boy is described as being 15 or 16–years-old, 5ft 10”, of slim build, wearing a grey zipper hooded top, a black body warmer and white jogging bottoms. “Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2157 of 28 January, 2022.”
