A teenage driver told a friend hit him in the face with a kitchen pan in an attempt to fool police and insurers that someone had stolen and crashed his car.
Alex Hobbs, 19, of Peterborough, made a false report to police, claiming he had been assaulted and robbed of his Ford Fiesta.

The force said he was sentenced to a six-month driving ban, a 12-month community order and ordered to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work.
