A tearful UberEats worker on the brink of homelessness has begged customers to leave tips in an emotional TikTok video. The heartbreaking footage, uploaded earlier last week by American Riley Elliot, went viral on the social media platform and he now has 17,000 followers.
In the video, Mr Elliot is sitting in his car and is clearly distressed after having completed a food delivery job. He says: “I wish that people who order UberEats or Doordash understood what it’s like to be a driver.” In tears, he goes on to explain he was only paid $2.50 (£1.80) for a 45-minute job and says drivers like him are risking their lives to do it during the pandemic.
