' The four-year-old girl, originally named Claire, was familiar with her name both verbally and in writing, although the parent claimed this wasn't the case.Sharing her confusion on Reddit, the teacher said: "I had a four-year-old student who was fully capable of speaking, could identify herself by her name, could recognise her name printed on paper, and we were working on her spelling her name. "One day, with no warning, her parent announces that they have changed her name.
This is her new name, refer to her by this name." When the teacher asked the parent why they decided to change the child's name, she was simply told: "Their child couldn't pronounce her former name." She added: "This is a lie, the child could easily say her name and introduce herself to others using her name).
Now we start all over with working on identifying her name and starting the process of having her print her name." Fearing the change might not be in the child's best interest, she turned to fellow internet users and asked: "Would you change your child's name?
What would be the age you just accepted the name they already have? " One person replied: "I'd be asking serious questions about the child's background in that instance.
