UK should now be ready for two massive storms this week as weather forecasters ramp up their warnings of heavy snow and high winds.The Met Office say gusts of up to 80-90mph could batter parts of the country on Wednesday afternoon (16 February) as Storm Dudley sweeps in over Scotland and Northern Ireland.Gale-force winds from the high-pressure weather system approaching across the Atlantic will then make their way over to northern England by the evening.The national forecaster has issued a yellow warning for wind across all parts of the UK bar northern Scotland for Friday.There is also a more severe amber warning in place from today for southern and western Scotland, the north coast of Northern Ireland and northern England.A forecast on the Met Office website admitted that Storm Dudley would take an unpredictable path on Wednesday, and read: "After a windy day, westerly winds are expected to increase further later on Wednesday afternoon and evening across southern Scotland, Northern Ireland, northern England, then parts of Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia."There is still some uncertainty in the timing and location of the strongest winds but there is the potential for inland wind gusts of 60-70 mph in places."Gusts of 80-90 mph are possible around exposed coasts of southwest Scotland for a brief time.
