Welcome to New York (University). Taylor Swift’s NYU Commencement speech for the graduating class of 2022 is finally here. The evermore singer received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts from New York University on May 18, 2022, and shared a passionate message with the graduating class. “I am 90 percent sure I am here because I have a song called ‘22,” Taylor opened her speech, with a reference to a song from her album Red. “And let me just say, I am elated to be with you here today as we celebrate and graduate New York University’s Class of ’22.” Taylor also had the honor of having a class dedicated to her during the 2022 Spring semester.
Rolling Stone writer and NYU Gallatin Alumna, Brittany Spanos, led a class at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recording Music about Taylor’s career, discography and legacy.
