Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage. At age 14, Swift became the youngest artist signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house and, at 15, she signed her first record deal.

Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", it became the US' best-selling album of 2009 and was certified diamond in the US. The album won four Grammy Awards, and Swift became the youngest Album of the Year winner.

Taylor Swift has received an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts degree, having left school aged 17 to enter the music business.The 32 year old star attended New York University's commencement ceremony at the Yankee Stadium in the Big Apple on Wednesday, where she gave a speech urging her fellow graduates to "decide what is yours to hold and let the rest go".Taylor addressed the classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022.The huge ceremony was carried out after others were previously cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

She said she wanted to give the graduates life advice she wishes she had been given.The superstar said: "Life can be heavy, especially if you try to carry it all at once.
