Taxi driver and three women in hospital after crash at Glasgow Central

A taxi driver and three women are in hospital following a horror crash which saw a black cab plough into pedestrians outside Glasgow Central.

Police have launched an appeal following the serious collision that took place on Union Street at its junction with Gordon Street around 1.50pm today.The major incident sparked a huge emergency response with dozens of police cars, ambulance and even firefighters scrambled to the scene.

Officers have now confirmed that the 62-year-old male driver of the taxi and and two women aged 60 and 61 were rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by ambulance.

Paramedics also whisked a 61-year-old old woman to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.Another woman, aged 50, was assessed by paramedics at the scene and later left.Police locked down Union Street and Gordon Street as they launched an investigation into the crash.
