Todd Field has revealed that he crashed his car while trying to cast Cate Blanchett in their new collaboration, Tár.The Oscar-nominated filmmaker, 58, speaking to Variety in a joint interview with the actress, 53, said that he was chatting with Blanchett’s agent Hylda Queally in September 2020 when the unfortunate accident took place.He said that prior to the crash, Queally had informed him that the Academy Award-winning actress was committed to other projects over the next three years.

'I knew from the get-go that it was about really big things - metaphysical, existential things that I was interested in - so I read it very quickly and said yes immediately.'According to a synopsis from producers, the motion picture is 'set in the international world of Western classical music,' and 'centers on Lydia Tár, widely considered one of the greatest living composer-conductors and the very first female director of a major German orchestra.'
