Wilco have announced a series of 20th anniversary reissues for their fourth album, ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’ – pre-order them here.Seven special editions of the landmark album will be released via Nonesuch on September 16, including a Super Deluxe version made up of eleven vinyls and a CD.The aforementioned version includes demos, drafts, and instrumentals, charting the making of ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’, plus a live 2002 concert recording and a September 2001 radio performance and interview.The set also includes 82 previously unreleased music tracks as well as a new book featuring an interview with frontman Jeff Tweedy, drummer Glenn Kotche, and Jim O’Rourke, who mixed the acclaimed 2002 album; an in-depth essay by author Bob Mehr; and previously unseen photos of the band making the album in their Chicago studio, The Loft.For the Yankee Hotel Foxtrotrecording, Wilco was Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Leroy Bach, Glenn Kotche, and Jay Bennett with Craig Christiansen, Ken Coomer, Jessy Greene, Fred Lonberg-Holm, and Jim O’Rourke.A live rendition of ‘Reservations’ taken from ‘Snoozin’ At The Pageant – Live 7/23/02 At The Pageant, St. Louis, MO’ – a recording that is part of the Super Deluxe LP and CD sets as well as the Deluxe LP and digital sets – has been shared as a preview of the 20th anniversary reissue.

Sleater-Kinney have announced a full-length recreation of their 1997 album ‘Dig Me Out’, to be comprised entirely of covers by the likes of Courtney Barnett, St. Vincent, Wilco, The Linda Lindas, TV On The Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe, and many more.Though a concrete release date is yet to be announced, the band have confirmed it’ll land sometime in the summer.

Gang Of Youths have shared a cover of Wilco’s 1999 track ‘A Shot In The Arm’, performing it live in a session for the SiriusXM station The Spectrum.They’ve kept much of the song’s airy, lightly melancholic energy intact, elevating it with layered synths – one bassy and woozy, the other glittery, akin to a synthesised xylophone – understated violins and Dave Le’aupepe’s commanding lead vocals.It’s a fitting cover, given the lyrical themes explored on Gang Of Youths’ recent third album, ‘Angel In Realtime’ – a concept album about the life of Le’aupepe’s late father. Wilco‘s Jeff Tweedy has said the band are in the studio working on their 12th album.Tweedy, who revealed the news in his Substack on Friday (February 11), explained to fans that his correspondence had been more irregular of late owing to the fact that Wilco are making the follow-up to 2019’s ‘Ode To Joy‘.“I’ve been in the studio with Wilco making some new music, chipping away at a new record. It’s been very very very fun and exciting.

Wilco will play six shows this April to celebrate 20 years since the release of their acclaimed fourth album ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’.The shows, announced earlier this week (February 8), will see the band playing the album in its entirety every night. The shows have been sub-titled ‘We Are Touring To Break Your Heart’ – a reference to the album’s opening song, ‘I Am Trying To Break Your Heart’.Four shows will take place at the United Palace in New York City, while a further two shows will take place in the band’s native Chicago at the Auditorium Theater.

Wilco have announced the full line-up for this year’s edition of their Solid Sound festival, with two dozen acts spanning a diverse range of genres and formats.Riding hot on the heels of this month’s Sky Blue Sky – the four-day Mexican festival that saw Wilco play three separate shows, as well as a solo set from frontman Jeff Tweedy – Solid Sound will take place at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) over the extended weekend of May 27-29.Joining the alt-rock icons will be a slew of their contemporaries both established and emerging, with acts like Japanese Breakfast, Sylvan Esso, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Iceage and Hand Habits billed high.Tweedy will also play a special set with a range of as-yet-unannounced guests, billed on the poster (which you can find below) as ‘Jeff Tweedy & Friends’.Elsewhere at the festival, John Hodgman and Jean Grae will host a showcase of stand-up comedy, with guests like Negin Farsad, River Butcher and Nick Offerman.Other standout inclusions are a set by the Sun Ra Arkestra directed by Marshall Allen, a performance by Nels Cline’s Consentrik Quartet, and the ‘On Fillmore’ installation led by Finnish pop singer Jonna Tervomaa.A post shared by Wilco (@wilco)Tickets for Solid Sound will include full access MASS MoCA – hailed as the US’ most expansive gallery of contemporary art – with current attractions including installations by the likes of James Turrell, Laurie Anderson, Sol LeWitt, Jenny Holzer, and Anselm Kiefer. Wilco have concluded their Sky Blue Sky festival in Mexico with guest appearances from Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus and Spoon frontman Britt Daniel during their headlining set.The band brought out Malkmus to sing lead vocals on a cover of Pavement’s 1994 single ‘Cut Your Hair’, a song Wilco have covered several times over the years. Daniel, meanwhile, was enlisted on vocals and acoustic guitar during a performance of ‘Kamera’, lifted from Wilco’s 2001 album ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’.

Wilco singer-guitarist Jeff Tweedy appears on the latest soundtrack for Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso, performing a stripped-back version of the show’s theme.Given season 2 is nearing the end, WaterTown Music has now unveiled the current soundtrack on Apple Music. Sleater-Kinney joined Wilco onstage in New York at the latest stop on their co-headlining tour last night (August 21).The two bands are currently on the road together in North America and played at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens.Sleater-Kinney appeared onstage during Wilco’s set at the venue to play the song ‘A Shot In The Arm’ with them. The track originally appeared on Wilco’s third album ‘Summerteeth’, which was released in 1999.Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker provided backing vocals on the track, which you can watch fan-shot footage of below.The two bands’ tour will continue tonight in Philadelphia.

Wilco have announced new dates for a planned run of shows across the US, following coronavirus-enforced postponements.Originally announced in March 2020, the band will embark on their ‘It’s Time’ co-headline tour with Sleater-Kinney throughout this August. Wilco will then go it alone for a number of festival and solo headline shows.In October, the band will then begin the ‘Ode To Joy’ tour, in support of their 11th LP ‘An Ode To Joy’.
