Stalker 2: Heart Of Chornobyl has received a new release date.After previously being announced for a Q1 2024 release window, the game has been delayed to September 5 and will be released on Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game will be released on Xbox Game Pass at launch.The trailer announcing the new date is weirdly calm and features a very nice campfire song being played as the point-of-view character reaches for a cup of what looks like coffee.Stalker 2: Heart Of Chornobyl was originally revealed back in 2010, with a release date set for 2012.

Stalker 2: Heart Of Chornobyl developer GSC Game World has confirmed that it’s been the victim of a hack, following claims that “a huge amount of materials” from the game would be leaked if the Ukrainian studio does not apologise to Russian fans.Details of the hack first surfaced on Saturday (March 11) when a user from Russian social media site VK claimed to have “tens of gigabytes” of content taken from Stalker 2, including the game’s story, maps and cutscene information.The statement was accompanied by a number of unreleased screenshots and concept art from the game.In the post, the hacker demanded that GSC Game World “rethink [its] attitude towards players from Belarus and Russia,” remove the ban on the hacker’s account from Stalker 2‘s official Discord, and announce a Russian-localised version of Stalker 2.Currently, Stalker 2 is not available for purchase in Russia.The hacker has threatened to release the stolen Stalker 2 footage if GSC Game World does not comply by March 15 and claimed that “it is not necessary to spoil the game for people because of politics”.Yesterday (March 12) GSC Game World confirmed that although an employee had been hacked, it had no plans to comply with the hacker.A message from GSC Game World team pic.twitter.com/rqRM0tFZmO— S.T.A.L.K.E.R. GSC Game World, the developer of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, may be moving away from Ukraine following news that Russia’s invasion had brought work on the game to a halt.According to a report by Czech news site Vortex, GSC Game World is relocating the studio’s team to somewhere in the Czech Republic.The site claims that GSC Game World is already in the process of filing applications to set up business in the Czech Republic. According to journalist Pavel Dobrovsky, the move will include “everyone” working at the studio.Pavel Barák – chairman of the Czech Game Developers Association – has also commented on the move:“I can confirm that the GSC studio approached the Association at the beginning of last week, saying that they are looking at the Czech Republic and neighbouring countries.

GSC Game World has cancelled all of their NFT-related plans for Stalker 2: Heart Of Chernobyl, following backlash from fans.Earlier this week (December 15), it was announced that the release of Stalker 2 would be preceded by a monthly series of NFT drops on DMarket, a platform for trading NFTs and metaverse creation.The first NFT, set to be auctioned in January, was for a player to create an NPC in their likeness. A second drop was to follow in February.However, despite the developers promising that the NFTs “won’t influence the gameplay itself or give in-game advantages over other players,” Stalker 2 fans still weren’t happy with the announcement.In an attempt to quash the backlash, GSC Game World released a statement on twitter.

GSC Game World has announced it will be selling an NFT that will enable one player to become the “first ever metahuman” in Stalker 2: Heart Of Chernobyl.The auction, which takes place in January, will see players bidding on an NFT that’ll allow the owner to recreate their face as a ‘metahuman’ NPC in the Stalker 2 metaverse using photogrammetry.
