BAFTA has announced its six nominees for the EE Game Of The Year Award, inviting members of the public to vote on games ranging from Elden Ring to Marvel Snap.The six nominees in the running are Elden Ring, God Of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Immortality, Marvel Snap, and Stray. Fans can vote for their preferred nominees here.The shortlist was decided by a jury panel of 10 including Jake Tucker, NME‘s commissioning editor for games.“Huge congratulations to all of this year’s nominees for the EE Game Of The Year award,” shared Tara Saunders, the chair of BAFTA’s games committee and studio head at PlayStation London Studio. “All six of these games have captured the imaginations of people around the world and represent a diverse range of genres, storylines and gaming experiences.”The rest of BAFTA’s gaming category nominations will be announced through the organisation’s Twitch channel on March 2, with the winners being announced on March 30.Out of the six nominations, four of them – Elden Ring, Immortality, God Of War Ragnarok and Marvel Snap – featured on NME‘s 20 best games of 2022.Earlier in the year, we spoke to those who featured in BAFTA’s Breakthrough programme to meet the next generation of gaming talent.

God Of War Ragnarok originally had a very different plan for Kratos.At the end of 2018’s God Of War, protagonist Kratos sees a mural prophesying his own death, and the same image makes a reappearance early on in Ragnarok.In a new interview with MinnMax, narrative director at Sony Santa Monica, Matt Sophos spoke about Kratos’ promised demise.“There was the earliest, earliest draft of an outline that we had come up with, that we took to [director Eric Williams where] Kratos died in the Thor fight at the very beginning of the game,” he said (via VGC).“He was gonna die [but] it wasn’t a permanent death. What was going to happen [was that] he would get pulled out of Hell, essentially, by Atreus,” Sophos continued, before explaining there “was going to be a big time jump” of 20 years.He added that he doesn’t care about revealing this new information “because it doesn’t happen any more, so this is all fan fiction at this point.”Apparently, Williams was the one who vetoed Kratos’ death in God Of War Ragnarok though.​​“Eric was like, ‘I don’t want to do that, Kratos has died and come back from it too many times’,” Sophos explained.

God Of War Ragnarok opened in the UK today (July 15), however the game’s Jotnar Edition has already been targeted by scalpers who are re-selling the game for up to £600.The Jotnar Edition of God Of War Ragnarok is priced at £229.99 from legitimate retailers. However, Ebay shows a multitude of Jotnar Editions that are being resold for over £550, with several scalpers asking for £600.

God Of War: Ragnarok was recently leaked, but now it’s seemingly been delayed.According to a recent report from Bloomberg, the God Of War sequel is targeting a November release date, following concerns that it would be delayed into 2023. Additional claims came from prominent leaker The Snitch who told journalist Jason Schreier that the release date announcement will arrive today (June 30).However, after the rumours were publicized, Schreier took to Twitter to explain that the announcement has been delayed.“On God of War Ragnarok rumors: as of very recently, there was indeed a release date announcement planned for Thursday, June 30, per people familiar,” he said. “Recent tweets from Cory Barlog suggest that is no longer happening.

God of War: Ragnarok, with a variety of shields to use that can impact the god-slayer’s skills.While Kratos could use the Guardian Shield in 2018’s God of War, Ragnarok director Eric Williams confirmed in an interview with YouTuber Jon Ford that the sequel will feature “different shields, and they have different defensive options and abilities.”“The reason we’re doing this is we really want to open up expressive choice to the way that you build your Kratos, the equipment and loadout and things like that,” Williams added.
