Danger Mouse and Black Thought will soon unleash their highly anticipated collaborative album Cheat Codes this Friday, August 12. It does feel something like an event thanks to the pedigree of the two principal artists – Danger Mouse rode his Beatles/JAY-Z mashup project The Grey Album to become an in-demand producer, and Black Thought is widely regarded as one of the best rappers ever.

Rage Against The Machine are currently on tour across North America, their much-delayed first dates in over a decade. This past weekend they played in Toronto, Canada in what turned out to be a more lively show than perhaps they anticipated.

Mad Cool has launched two new events for 2022, Mad Cool Sunset and the Andalucia Big Festival.The original Madrid festival will take place between July 6-10, with the likes of Metallica, Muse, The Killers, Haim and Florence + The Machine set to perform.Organisers have now announced Mad Cool Sunset, a one-day concert that’s scheduled for Saturday, September 10.

Run The Jewels‘ Killer Mike has opened up about a new pro-marijuana documentary he’s been working on.Tumbleweeds with Killer Mike is a new docu-series where Mike discusses the “impact and evolution” of cannabis culture, the history of marijuana and its legalisation in states such as Las Vegas, San Francisco, Chicago, and New York.Speaking to Consequence about what viewers can expect from the series, Mike said: “They’re going to further expand what they know in terms of seeing what’s out there on the horizon in terms of advocacy and creating equity and fairness around marijuana. In terms of people that have been sentenced and charged for things, what will happen next in terms of opportunities for them as the world blossoms.“There’s something to learn about how veterans that are coping with PTSD have dealings with marijuana advocacy.

Killer Mike has revealed in a new interview that Run The Jewels have begun work on their next album.Killer Mike and El-P’s last full release together as RTJ was June 2020’s ‘RTJ4’, which won NME‘s Album of the Year in 2020.The duo have now started to look towards making their next record, according to a new interview with Killer Mike.Speaking to Consequence, Mike said: “I say this with a smile and a wink — me and El-P were in the studio together.“We may have messed around and started ‘Run The Jewels 5’. So we’ll see what happens.”The rapper added that RTJ fans should also expect more music from the duo (“I would say look for Run the Jewels to pop up on some guest appearances”), as well as solo features from Mike himself: “I’ve done some solo guest appearances as well.

Killer Mike has sold his entire song back catalogue as part of a new publishing deal with Reservoir Media.As Billboard reports, the agreement will see the independent publisher take a considerable stake in the discography of Run The Jewels – the rap duo comprised of Mike and El-P – as well as songs from the artist’s solo projects.In a statement about the new deal Killer Mike said: “A great publisher is a major key to success, and I’m excited to embark on this phase of my career with the dynamic team at Reservoir.”Faith Newman, executive VP of A&R and catalogue development at Reservoir, added: “Killer Mike has been a fixture of hip-hop for decades now, and both his past successes and upcoming music continue to push boundaries and address deeply meaningful topics.“Artists and visionaries of his calibre do not come around often, and we are grateful to be the publishing home for such a trailblazing creator.”Killer Mike has released four studio albums with Run The Jewels, the latest coming in the form of 2020’s ‘RTJ4’.The Atlanta rapper has also made five solo records: ‘Monster’ (2003), ‘I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind’ (2006), ‘I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind II’ (2008), ‘PL3DGE’ (2011) and ‘R.A.P. Rage Against The Machine have shared their new tour itinerary, with half of their dates now set to take place in early 2023.The band, who first announced their second reunion back in 2019, were set to begin their ‘Public Service Announcement’ tour in March 2020. Ongoing complications surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, however, has forced the tour to be rescheduled several times over – the most recent of which came in January, where half the tour was postponed from April to July and the other half was postponed indefinitely.Now, the band have confirmed that the North American tour will take place across two legs.
