Morrissey debuts new song ‘Bonfire Of Teenagers’, about Manchester Arena bombing
Morrissey has debuted new song ‘Bonfire Of Teenagers’ – a track he says is about “England’s 9/11”, the Manchester Arena bombing. On May 22 in 2017, 22 people died and hundreds were injured when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device in the foyer at the venue at the end of an Ariana Grande concert. In the wake of the tragedy, Oasis‘ single ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ became an anthem of love and solidarity for many in the city.Grande and Coldplay famously covered the track together at the One Love Manchester tribute show, Noel Gallagher and U2 also played it in memory of the victims (with Noel being joined by Johnny Marr for a performance of the song on the first anniversary of the bombing) as did Courteeners when they played an emotional homecoming show at Manchester’s LCCC Old Trafford cricket ground shortly after the attack, with Metallica also performing a rendition in tribute since, along with many others.Noel Gallagher also vowed to donate royalties from the song to help the families of victims, before Liam followed suit. Now, fellow Mancunian Morrissey has addressed the attack, airing the title track of his upcoming album during his current Las Vegas residency.“This song is new, it’s about England’s 9/11,” he told the crowd last week before performing the track.

Morrissey demands Johnny Marr stop using his name for ‘clickbait’ in interviews: ‘You know nothing of my life’
There’s no love lost between Morrissey and former the Smiths bandmate Johnny Marr, as the ex-frontman has asked Johnny to stop talking about him in interviews.Despite the pair’s long history together, playing in one of the UK’s most iconic bands, touring the world and producing two albums that hit number one in the charts, in recent years things have soured, to say the least.Morrissey, now arguably better known for his controversial comments than his music, has issued an open letter to Johnny calling for him to stop mentioning his name in interviews as he ‘knows nothing’ about him.In a wide-ranging letter posted to his official website, the How Soon Is Now singer began by saying it was ‘not a rant or a hysterical bombast’, rather a ‘polite and calmly measured request’.‘Would you please stop mentioning my name in your interviews?’He asked guitarist Johnny to instead focus on his ‘own career, your own unstoppable solo achievements and your own music’, and to ‘leave me out of it’.The former chart-topper, 62, went on to say that Johnny simply doesn’t know him: ‘You know nothing of my life, my intentions, my thoughts, my feelings.‘Yet you talk as if you were my personal psychiatrist with consistent and uninterrupted access to my instincts.’Morrissey wrote that the pair have not been friends for 35 years now – ‘many lifetimes ago’.When he and Johnny first met, he says, they were both unknowns, and ‘helped each other become whatever it is we are today.’‘Can you not just leave it at that? Must you persistently… blame me for everything… from the 2007 Solomon Islands tsunami to the dribble on your grandma’s chin?’Morrissey went on to take a dig at Johnny as he said the guitarist ‘found me inspirational enough to make music with me
