Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford has compared himself to The Beatles following the release of the flop Borderlands film.Gearbox has had a rough few weeks. The long-awaited Borderlands film has only made a reported $31million (£23.6million) in box office sales, compared to a budget of $110million (83.7million) and is coming to streaming services to try and recoup some of those losses.To make things worse, the first Risk Of Rain 2 DLC to be released since Gearbox purchased the IP in 2022 from Hopoo has had a disastrous launch, with fans complaining that Seekers Of The Storm is more expensive than previous expansions and is full of bugs, which is affecting every version of the game.

Gearbox Software has confirmed when Borderlands 4 will be released via a teaser trailer – check it out below.Last night (August 20) Gearbox and 2K Games used Gamescom Opening Night Live to officially reveal Borderlands 4, five years after Borderlands 3 first launched. Two spin-offs have been released since, New Tales From The Borderlands and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, but Borderlands 4 is the next mainline entry in the franchise.According to the official description of the game, “In this next instalment of the definitive looter shooter, players will assume the role of a legendary Vault Hunter as they blast their way through hordes of enemies in search of new treasures to loot on an all-new planet.”Borderlands 4 is due to release at some point in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, however a more specific launch date has yet to be announced.Last month, Gearbox boss Randy Pickford teased the Borderlands 4 announcement.

Gearbox and 2K have announced that a sequel to narrative-adventure game Tales From The Borderlands is coming out this year. The sequel to Telltale‘s 2014 episodic adventure set in the Borderlands universe was announced during Gearbox’s PAX East live stream yesterday (April 21).Gearbox Entertainment Company CEO Randy Pitchford confirmed the sequel would feature “all-new characters and all-new stories from the Borderlands”, adding that the interactive fiction style of the original Tales From The Borderlands will be being brought back for this follow-up.There are more stories to explore in the #Borderlands universe. Commander Knoxx, who will be a “key character” in the upcoming film, is the daughter of General Knoxx, who first appeared in the Secret Armory Of General Knoxx DLC for the first Borderlands game according to Game Informer.Commander Knoxx will be portrayed by Indian-American actress Janina Gavankar, who is perhaps best known for her role as Iden Versio in Star Wars Battlefront II.
